Trading Exchanges

Also known as electronic marketplaces, or e-markets, trading exchanges allow Business2Business (B2B) e-Commerce transaction. They act like a mail service, delivering transactions from one member company to another, elimiating the need for point to point connections between businesses.
Many exchanges are aligned to a particular industry or business area, such as automotive, aerospace or retail. They can provide several services such as order management, collaboration tools and e-sourcing/auctions.
A large number of exchanges sprang up during the e-commerce boom and many have since fallen by the wayside, merged or been taken over.
